  Requirements for Running Claim Agent

If you are going to run Claim Agent on a single computer then you need the following:

  • Your computer can be Windows 98, NT 4, 2000, or XP. For good performance, we recommend a minimum of 192 MB for Windows 98, 256 MB for Windows NT and 2000, and 512 MB and XP. At least a Pentium II processor rated at 450 MH or better is also recommended for older operating systems. Of course, more memory and processor speed gives better performance.

  • A connection to the Internet. This connection is critical for receiving software updates, submitting system diagnostic information, and general support. 56KB line is the minimum recommended. A broadband connection is preferred.

An e-mail address is necessary to receive critical support information on a timely basis.

  • A printer with graphics capability is necessary for printing reports and UB04 or HCFA 1500 (Revised) forms. We have tested with various HP LaserJet printers. The printer must support PCL.

  • A dial-up line and modem is often necessary to submit claims to the payer or clearinghouse.

  • Adobe reader, which is freely available, is required for each computer.

If you are going to run Claim Agent on multiple computers, then you will also need:

  • Space on a server to share common files.

  • Additional space on a server to support a MySQL  database. This server must be accessible via TCP/IP.
